Course Overview

Our Emergency First Aid at Work Course is meticulously crafted to suit all levels – whether you’re a complete beginner or refreshing your existing knowledge. The course blends hands-on practice with engaging theory sessions, fostering a safe and supportive learning environment.

Upon successful completion, participants will receive a recognised certificate issued by EFA Training, valid for three years.

Course Content

Our course content is aligned with the latest Health and Safety Executive (HSE) guidelines to ensure best practice. During this one-day course, you will cover:

Introduction to First Aid

  • The importance of first aid in the workplace
  • Responsibilities of a first aider
  • The legal framework and workplace requirements

Managing Incidents

  • Conducting a scene survey
  • Primary assessment of the casualty
  • Calling for emergency services

Dealing with an Unconscious Casualty

  • Assessing responsiveness
  • Recovery position technique
  • Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR)
  • Safe use of Automated External Defibrillators (AEDs)

Managing Common Workplace Emergencies

  • Choking: recognition and treatments for adults
  • Heart attacks
  • Seizures/Fitting
  • Fractures, sprains and strains
  • Control of severe bleeding and bandaging
  • Managing shock: causes, recognition, and response
  • Minor injuries: cuts, grazes, splinters, burns, scalds, and eye injuries

Reporting and Record Keeping

  • Understanding accident books and incident reporting
  • Communicating information to emergency personnel

Duration and Location

  • Course Duration: 1 day (typically 6 hours), 9am to 4pm
  • Location: Tonbridge School Centre, Tonbridge, Kent (or can arrange off-site delivery if required)
