Training Tip

Foam Rolling: is a form of Self Myofascial Release which is thought to improve flexibilty without reducing muscle performance.
In effect it is a kind of self-administered sports massage.

Guidelines:

– Apply the roller to tight/overactive muscles.

– Slowly roll up, down and across the muscle until a tender spot is located.

– Hold position until discomfort decreases by 75% (relax and breathe).

– Continue rolling to see if there are any further tender areas.

– Always maintain lumbo-pelvic stability.

– Follow up with some form of developmental stretching.
